My grandfather, Erdman Schlender, immigrated to Benton Harbor, Michigan,
from Bugrin, Russia (Volhynia) in 1909 as an infant with his parents Gustav
& Marie Schlender and brother Paul.  Our family has continued as Lutherans,
in Volhynia, and here in the US.  Growing up in the Lutheran Church,
Missouri Synod, we have sung the Nunc Dimittis, every other Sunday after
Communion.  It is in the liturgy in The Lutheran Hymnal, (1941) pages 29-30.
  After the minister says "Depart in peace."  The congregation
sings/responds:

"Lord, now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace according to Thy word,

For mine eyes have seen Thy Salvation: which Thou hast prepared before the
face of all people,

a  light to lighten the Gentiles and the Glory of Thy people Israel.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen."

I have tried to find the actual music that we sing in the Lutheran Service,
but am unable to find it online.  I do have my copy of The Lutheran Hymnal
and am happy to send a copy of the music directly, upon request.

In researching the Nunc Dimittis, I found that it was included in the last
hymnal published under Luther’s supervision before his death the following
