My apologies Reiner,
I had no intention of making little of your contribution, none
whatsoever. You are 100% correct in participating even if there does
exist a language barrier. We learn by doing. You are doing, so you
are learning. You are also 100% correct in openly expressing humility
in your comments below.
I was focused on the last two E-letters in the thread and overlooked
yours, in that I am wrong.
In reviewing your contribution I state you are 100% correct in
grasping the concepts. It is about sound. You demonstrate the
difficulty existing in formulating correct sounds with a German
tongue vs. a Polish tongue. Our palates and muscle structure are
formed in the first five years of life... As I was joking previously,
from trilling 'R's' as a child, my tongue does so whenever I see one
of those little fellows.
You did make some factual mistakes which I will overlook.
You are correct in examining a large cluster and variation of names
instead of one. No two people pronounce words exactly the same yet we
are dependent on the sound generated to understand. You demonstrate it.
It behooves us all to recall Rilke's words when reviewing others
efforts.
