[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Were divorces recorded in church records?

Hi All, I've been extracting from a 1940 EWZ microfilm of Germans from
Wolhynia and Galiciz as they were processed at Lodz. I've only ever seen
one entry that said "geschieden" - divorced. And I reread it again because
it was the first time I had seen such an entry.

As I have run across entries that stated the fathers and even husbands that
were listed as living in America or Canada or Brazil or Argentina, I wonder
if that would be a reason for divorce - abandonment or possibly no
knowledge of whether they were still living and/or couldn't afford to bring
their family - or the wife refused to leave. Many reasons.

My grandmother's uncle (Gustav Baier) said his father (Daniel Baier) had
died in Canada (actually it was Benton Harbor, MI but they had left
Wolhynia and travelled there by way of Canada.)

My 2 bits....
