That is very interesting. I have often wondered how difficult it must have been for recorders of such lists to truly understand all of the different languages and accents coming at them.
I'm a little disappointed that you are not from Siedlce...oh the list of records that I would have asked you to find!! Oh well. There is a special place in my heart for Detroit and Grand Rapids as I have family roots there, as well.

No, I was not born in Siedlce. Truly. I was born in Detroit.
For the sake of argument, I took that phrase, and ran it through the
Google translator into Polish.
I then took the resultant phrase "I urodził się w Siedlcach",
which may or may not be completely accurate and
inserted it in the left box of the page. I specfied that the
language be Polish. And clicked on the pronunciation icon again.
The pronunciation comes even closer to Sherlitz.
