Hello Greg,
I am living 50 meters from the Düsseldorf border and of course we got
the Düsseldorf telephone register. You are right, there is just one
TSCHELOG, but there are two TSCHESCHLOG in the Düsseldorf and 36
TSCHESLOG, 2 TSCHESLOK, 37 TSCHESCHLOG, 31 TSCHESCHLOK, one
TSCHESCHLOKK, one SZELOCH and 10 SZELONG in the German telephone
register. The name seems to derive from the Polish name SZELOCH (284 x
in the Polish surname database www.herby.com.pl , 55 of them in the
Kielce, 54 in the Radom woiewodztwo). Here in Hilden lives a SCHNEELOCH
family (101 entries in the German telephone register) whose name
supposedly also derives from SZELOCH.
Hope to be helpful,
Günther
