Right you are Jennifer if you are referring to the IGI data (or the
Ancestral File) on the www.familysearch.org website. The IGI is not a very
useful tool for research (except extracted English records and some German
records), but at least some clues are provided. I believe any data on the
IGI submitted by LDS members before about 1980 or 1990 may not have been
properly researched, probably due to lack of availability of filmed records.
Data on the Pedigree Resource File also needs to be checked and/or proven.
You have probably seen that some of this data on the PRF and also on the
Rootsweb site, is repeated from old Family Tree Maker files. :-(
As mentioned already, do your own research and prove or disprove the
information you see.
