[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Immigration from Canada to USA

I agree with the need for an extraction project. Be warned that many of the
pre-1900 films can be very tough to read, and some pages might take half an
hour or more without any guarantee of accuracy.

Beyond that, there is already an active indexing program being run by the
Nanaimo Family History Society. It started with films from a bit later --
1908 through 1910, basically -- but the plan is to keep expanding it to
include earlier and later lists. This project has already provided us with a
wonderful step forward in terms of resources available.

And the really good news about it is that anybody can volunteer to take
part, no matter where they live, even if they don't have access to a
microfilm reader. The NFHS is providing digital images of pages to
volunteers, so you can contribute in your home, at any time of day.

Here is a link to the NFHS site:

I understand that they are also available at Family History Centers and a
Canadian provincial archives.

because there is no cost involved.and relatively unrestricted hours.
Someone with a laptop could spend quality extraction time without a great
deal of travel.
