both versions seem to be correct since the German settlements in 
Siebenbuergen (Romania) used to be clearings in the former border 
thickets which became imperial resp. royal Hungarian property after 
every annexion of Turkish territories. So the Polish Romunki could have 
likewise been clearings in former (border?) thickets.
