Hi Rene,
SGGEE covers primarily Germans in Volhynia (a province of Russia during the
19th century, now in the northwest corner of Ukraine) and Poland. The
GR-GENEALOGY listserve is more appropriate for South Russia areas such as
Odessa, Bessarabia, and Crimea.
The SGGEE pedigree database (mostly Poland) lists some 200 Engel names. The
St. Petersburg archives also lists many Engel names for the period up to
1885.
