John and Pauline Engel
John, Pauline and their oldest son Fred (Three years old) arrived in

Besserabia, Russia. This area is located immediately north of the Black
Sea, north of the port of Odessa. The Engel families had been living
and farming in that area since 1790, being one of 127 families who had
left Germany to settle that region, thereby securing the Eastern
boundaries of what was then known as Czarist Russia. They had two more
children after immigrating to Endiang. Arthur and Hilda.
