Hello: I have been researching family roots.  I recently received a copy of
my great grandfather's birth certificate.  He was born in Brooklyn, New
York, USA.  His father was listed as born in Germany with the given name
Pensius, surname HOHMANN.
I am researching the name Penius.  The German genealogical society I
contacted could only help me by suggesting the name may be of Eastern
European origin.
Has anyone heard of this name?  Or, can someone refer me to some resource
where I may find the information?
