Hi Carol
I said I beleved that it appeared to be of little
difficulty in leaving Poland during or up to a certain
time , Not Russia. Someone had stated that they thought
that since Poland was under Russian rule, that leaving from
there would have probably been just as difficult as leaving Russia.
I stated that it didnt seem difficult for people in Poland to leave, BUT
perhaps it was if you were fleeing from Russia to avoid military duty.
What happened once you crossed the border from Russia into Poland ?
Did the underground continue to hide these people once they were into Poland
or were you safe after you crossed the border ?
I wonder how people in these circumstances obtained papers to
leave Poland for the US.
