The St. Pete records are copies of local church records that were sent to
the Bishop's office in St. Petersburg. In some areas and time frames, the
pastor copied detailed marriage records for submission. Those details
usually include the names of parents, place of birth, etc. Unfortunately,
in Volhynia, except for the early 1830s and 40s records, the marriage
records were abbreviated.
So the Hauptregister numbers you see are references to the original local
parish records.
To date, original Zhitomir records c.1872 have not been found. However,
the Rozyszcse parish records are held in the Warsaw Archives. You can
write to them to get the detailed information which may be very helpful in
your research. There will however be a cost involved. Note that the
original parish records for Rozyszcse for 1862-1870 have been microfilmed
by the LDS and they may be of help to you if perhaps you can find the
marriage records there for siblings of these people. The film numbers can
be found on the SGGEE website.
