Hello all,
My German ancestors emigrated to the United States in the 1890s from the
Konin, Poland area. Many documents of interest to me are recorded in the
Lutheran parish of Maślaki which has been microfilmed only up through 1859.
Being to the point at which I need to pay the Polish State Archives to do
some research, and having a lot on my wish list (don't we all!), I was
wondering if anyone on the list knew if it is possible for non-residents to
open a bank account in Poland via the internet. After the initial set-up
this would, of course, get around all the various fees and difficulties for
foreign wire transfers and currency conversions. Yet I know that
governments try to prevent such activity out of fear of money laundering.
If anyone has as a non-resident opened a bank account in Poland via the
internet, I'd love to hear how it can be done!
