I have had great success with genealogy for my mother's family, but very
limited success in one area of my father's. What's so odd about this, is
that both my mother's and father's sides of the family came from the same
general area - Lublin, Chelm, Dubeczno..
Here's what I have. I am wondering if any of you are also researching these
names and might want to share any information. Or if you have any
suggestions, please feel free to pass them along.
Friedrich Glor (born 1881) married Luise Hammermeister (born 1885) married
on 30 June 1905. Friedrich immigrated in 1913 and Luise and two daughters
followed in 1921. They settled in Milwaukee, although they spent some time
in the area of Gillett, WI. Both Friedrich and Luise died and are buried in
Milwaukee, WI.
Friedrich Glor's parents were: Julius Glor (died in 1913) and Rosella
Bonakoske (died in 1916). There were 4 other children other than Friedrich.
The two girls (Amanda and Martha) died young. Johan Glor immigrated to
Edmonton - I'm in touch with these relatives and they have no more
information than I do. The other son, Adolph, also immigrated to the USA.
Luise Hammermeister's parents were: Peter Hammermeister and Luise Schilberg.
Peter was born in 1845 in (spelling?) Komornycy and died/was buried in
Dubeczno. I have no other information about Luise Schilberg, although I do
know that she is the only family member that I have found via an EWZ record.
This is all I have been able to find, and I'm at a loss where else to
search. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
