Hi Jerry,
thanks for your mail.
Yes I had already contact to our Bettich/Bettig family emigrated to USA and
Canada. My grandfather flies 2 times to the USA when I was a little boy. I
had already contact to Markus Wolf who get back from USA to the Ukraine.
Now back to my relatives. Valentin Bettcih (the younger) was born in 1854 in
Solomka, he married Christine Wacker and they lived in Solomka, he was also
buried in 1920 in Solomka ,so I think his father Valentin Bettich (the
older) was born between 1810 and 1830 (my grandfather toild me it should be
in Lask near Lodz, his grandparents told him... Valentin(the older) married
Therese Schubert.
So if I'm right it is possible that Johann Bettich and Rosina Diehle are the
parents of Valentin (the older)
Henning Bettich

This is not a German line but I had my cousin tested for the paternal line
and had an exact match of my grandfathers siblings line that immigrated form
Ireland to Pittsburgh. The family lore had him going to Pittsburgh in the
1850's but never heard anything again. The match was exact name, birthdate
and Pittsburg so the match gave us a follow up and I supplied the earlier
Ireland info to the cousins.

Thank you very much Antje,
This will help very much. This is the same Ludwig. His death certificate
says he was born 17 Sept. 1879, although it says he was born in Babiak. It
also states his father was August. I think we have a match here. Where were
you able to obtain this information?

Sandra,
The birth record says that Ludwig's parents are August Jesse and Ernestina
Neumann. Ludwig was born in Olszak on 17/29 September, the record is from
18/30 September. At this time it is said the his parents were 26 years/23
years old. The record no. is 152.
Hope this will help you.

Sandra,
Unfortunately, the only information I have about Ludwig is his name on a
hand drawn family tree. No other information. I recognize the name Gurke
from research in that area, but have no definite proof. His childrens names
are interesting/familiar. Time frames are very close, but it doesn't prove
anything. I'm sure there is a relation there somewhere.

Ludwig Jesse b ?
August, brother of ludwig came to the US in 1901 and moved to pennsylvania.
I am in touch with his relatives. So its not unreasonable that ludwig also
came to the states, if its the same ludwig.

Dear Mr. Kommers,
I have some details about Ludwig Jesse. But I don't know if it is the same
person.
Ludwig Jesse married Ottilie Gurke about 1896 in ...., Poland. Ludwig was
born 17.09.1871 in Babyak, Poland, Russia ?? (lt. Standard Certificate of
Death) and died on 02.03.1956 in Forest Grove, Washington, Oregon, USA about
age 85. They had six children: Louise, Natalie, August, Martha, Albert and
Walter.
Name of his father: August Jesse
Name of his mother: no record
Is it possible that it is the same person?
Best regards

I think I have a few pieces of the puzzle that might help or I might make it
more confusing.
I have an Andreas Jesse who married? Rosina Grams(b 1798-1800)
6 children
Rosina Jesse
Martin Jesse
Gottlieb Jesse
Michael Jesse
Johann Samuel Jesse
Johann Gottfried Jesse
Gottlieb Jesse married Eva Decker 1871 babiak poland
7 Children
Julianna Jesse
Wilhelm Jesse
August Jesse
Wilhelmine Jesse
Samuel Jesse
Ernestine Jesse
*Ludwig Jesse*
now combine that with
Samuel Krueger married Anna Dorothea Jeske 1841 babiak poland
7 children
Samuel Krueger b 1848
Gottlieb Krueger b 1855
Julius krueger b 1859
Henrietta krueger b 1862
Ernestine Krueger b 1845
Renate Krueger b 1851
August Krueger b 1842
samuel krueger married wilhelmine jesse 1871
7 children
Henriette krueger
Julius Krueger
Pauline Krueger
Alwine Krueger
August Krueger'
Julianne Krueger
Eduard Krueger
Pauline Krueger, I'm told, married a man named Bachmann and emmigrated to
Brazil about 1930. 5 children, only 2 names known, leokadia bachmann and
Irma (Erma) Bachmann.
I've been trying to find any info on that branch of the family but have had
no luck so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
so there are familiar names and surnames, also places and dates. I have
birth locations for most of the people, looks like the majority were born
Kolo, Poland.
I found a whole town of Kruegers in germany that looks to be related to me.
I have been in contact with them and hope to visit soon. Its near Wernige
Rode Wermany.
I hope this helps someone. like I said, one big puzzle.

Hi everybody,
I'm searching for the names Bettich, cause my great-great-grandfather was
Valentin Bettich and he was born in Solomka, he married Christine Wacker and
died in Solomka. Valentzins father was also named Valentin and he married
Therese Schubert, my grandfather told me that they went from germany to
Volhynia over Lask near Lodz in Poland.
Valentins children also was named Bettich but some of the had the name
Bettig cause they couldn't write and read and so the volhynian church wrote
the names like they sound.
So my grandfather is Heinrich Bettich and my grandmother is Elfriede Bettig
.
It would be great to hear something about it. And I hope I could close the
great hole in the family tree before Valentin Bettich. Cause we didn't know
really where to search for Valentin, was Lask near Lodz really the right
town they went through and live some years, where from germany they came
nobody of our family really knows, my grandfather says that his grandparents
speak swabian dialect if the kids shouldn' know what they speak.. Maybe the
come from Swabia.
It would be great if there exist some old photos from the region from
Solomka, Lubomirka, Berestowice and Kostopol, so I can imagine how they
lived.
I would be happy about every little peace you know.

One branch of the Bettig family from Solomka migrated to the United States.?
They are involved in Baptist Church missions in Ukraine.? Apparently an
ancestor married a Ukrainian and they still have relatives who live in
Solomka.? They were part of the Volhynian German community that settled in
the Benton Harbor district of Michigan.? See:
http://markuswolf.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
http://kosachukfamily.blogspot.com/2007/09/markus-wolf.html
http://www.churchgrowers.com/cisportal/AboutUs/VolunteerStaff/tabid/70/Defau
lt.aspx
I do not have a direct email address for this family but you can probably
arrange contact with them through their church at
http://www.napierchurch.org/
My maternal Hemminger family also lived at Solomka.? I too have searched for
old pictures of the region but have not found any.
Our databases shows a Valentin Bettich, son of Johann Bettich and Rosina
Diehle.? The information comes from Trinity Lutheran Parish in Lodz.? Johann
died at Lutka (now a suburb of Lodz) 21 May 1847 so Valentin would be born
before then.? Other siblings of Valentin include Maria, Josef, Johann,
Julius and Ida.? There is no other information about the family but
researching the microfilms of this parish available through the LDS might
get you further results.
