[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Place names in Latvia

I know that this email is slightly off-topic, but I have seen the 
name Latvia mentioned more than a few times on this list, and this 
group seems to be able to answer just about every question posed to 
it.    Besides, based on the surnames and place names, and the 
history I have read of Latvia, there is a strong German influence in 
that area, and I suspect that f I can find enough records, I may well 
establish more German connections in the Latvian side of my family.

I recently received the results of a request that I made to the State 
Archives in Latvia more than two years ago.    The reply was in 
English, but has not as yet produced any actual documents, other than 
their letter.   They found precise information on 30 of my direct 
ancestors and the siblings to my ancestors, all on my mother's 
side.   The information contained in part the following about my 
great-grandfather and great-grandmother:

"The family Schaumann originated from Dubena (now Dignaja, Jekabpils 
district- there are some accent marks in those places that I have not 
included), and belonged to the Ev. Lutheran Latvian community of Dubena.

Jahn Schaumann, son of farm labourer Jahn and his wife Ilse, was born 
on November 13, 1854 in Schlottenhof Miglan, baptized on November 28, 
1854 in Dubena.

He married on July 2, 1878 in Dunaburg (now Dignaja) to Anna Bikker.

Anna Bikker, daughter of farm labourer Indrik Bikker and his wife 
Mahre, was born on September 2, 1860 in Dubena Gipteran, baptized on 
September 20, 1860 in Dubena.

John and Anna Schaumann lived in Randowka (Daugavpils district) and 
were farmers.   They had children .............."

I am generally able to find where these places are, but I am stumped 
by Schlottenhof, and especially the appendage Miglan.    Likewise I 
am stumped by the word Gipteran following Dubena.

Any help from this knowledgeable group would be appreciated.
