To listserv members - I have just completed compiling all your comments,
stories, etc. regarding this subject that was discussed earlier this month. Would
you believe I now have 16 pages of wonderful information? Plans are to have
this on display in the notebook on Stories at the August SGGEE convention in
the Research room. It does make an interesting piece for information of what
some of you had heard from parents/grandparents and other sources. We will
just have to hope that someday (soon) an official document of sorts will be found
to truly verify, or clarify, these accounts. A most heartfelt thanks to all
of you who shared what you knew.
It is so important to preserve what we know, even if it is only a small
portion of a family's life story. I will hope that more like this will come forth
on perhaps another "research" subject on this listserv. Does anyone have a
question/subject that others can provide insight on? After the convention I
will anxiously await something like this to be shared. (And have my collection
of "stories" multiply even more.) (<;
Sincerely,
Virginia Less
P.S. If you are coming to Calgary in August to the SGGEE convention be sure
to hear Dick Benert discuss with you the subject of the Deportations. By
then he may have more information for you to digest.
