[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Deportations

My father never spoke of deportations, but it was clear that one of the
reasons his father's family left Volhynia, in 1893, was the "Dienst" - the
compulsory military service. One of my father's uncles went off to service
and was never heard from. One of my father's regrets when he was older was
that he had never wanted to hear stories of teh old country when he was a
child.
