Surnames: RAUCH, REICH, GENGERT (original spelling might have been
Juengert, Jungert, Jiengert, Jengert, Hengert, Engert, etc....after
arriving in the US it became YINGER)
Time Frame: REICH would be early 1800's ; RAUCH and GENGERT would have
been from 1875 to 1900.
Places: REICH from Russian Poland; RAUCH found in Zhitomir
area...Segensthal or nearby, I think. Two siblings born in Segensthal;
one later listed in Odessa. GENGERT listed as Russian Poland, but he was
in Russian military in Volhynian area...
GENGERT (or its possible alternate spelling) is the most difficult to
track. This would be my great grandfather Henry/Heinrich GENGERT, and my
listing shows he was born in January, 1875, in Poland. I know very
little of his family; he wouldn't talk about anyone after he arrived in
the US. I do know that at the time he emigrated, he left parents, and at
least two siblings....one of whom was his twin.
I am also trying to trace family from the Volga area...surnames
vonREITZENSTEIN, URICH, TEMPEL
Thanks
Cheryl Blum
