[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] German Graves in Russia

My great-grandfather Ludwig Schultz lived in Zawada in the district of Lubartow until 1915. Then, the Russians expelled him like many, many other Germans who lived in Poland and he ended up in Russia. According to his certificate of death, he died in 1917 in the village of Askino, district of Askino, county of Birsk, province of Ufa.

My questions are: does anybody here have any experience with regard to finding graves in Russia? Are the local Russian authorities helpful and can they be approached to begin with?

Thanks,
Frank Schultz
