Dear list,
Long story short, I wonder if anyone here happen to know any of these
people listed in the following obituaries. They happen to be my
(uncontacted) relatives and I hope to reconnect with them in the hope they
have heritage information to share.
HAENSCHKE, Emil - Went to be with the Lord Friday, May 16, 2008 at the age
of 85.
He is survived by his loving wife Minnie of 20 years; brother Herbert Hand;
his nephews: Gordon Popke, Brian MacKenzie, Spencer MacKenzie, Trevor
MacKenzie, Gary Eldon Kendrick; nieces: Judi Armitage, Janet Mann, Diane
Dekker, Karen MacKenzie and their families; and Minnie’s children and their
families.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 26th at 10:00 am at the
Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Centre for the
Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3.

ARMITAGE, Judith (nee Popke)
Judith Armitage late of Busby, AB passed away on February 2, 2012 at the
age of 60 years. Judi was born in Westlock, AB on March 24th, 1951. She
was predeceased by her husband Brian, her parents Julius and Elizabeth
Popke and one brother Allan Popke. Judi is survived by her long time
partner Matt Haisan, her children, Jason of Abbotsford, BC, Denise of
Chilliwack, BC, Betty Johnson and granddaughter Cassidy of Vanderhoof, BC.
Judi is also survived by her brother Gordon Popke and his family of Eastern
Passage, Nova Scotia and Allan’s family in Abbotsford and Chilliwack as
well as numerous cousins and many friends. Cremation has taken place. In
keeping with Judi’s wishes, there will be no service.

Explanation: Judi's mother, Elisabeth Haeschke is daughter of Reinhold
Haeschke born in Volhynia. Reinhold was son of Christine Norenberg, related
to me. They've been in Brazil briefly, before moving to Canada in 1913.
