Linda,To answer your question its probably best to study other death records of married people from that same year at that church. Different pastors could have handled this different ways. If his wife's name is not listed it could be 1) she had died already and they didn't mention deceased relatives 2) this pastor did not put in spouses names on death records or 3) no one present knew her name.
