Gail and others,

You can also look on the SGGEE website on this page: https://sggee.org/research/parishes/church_parishes/LutheransInRusPoland.html
Jerry Frank started this page when digitized parish records began appearing on Polish websites. Other members helped him and Karl Krueger, current webmaster will be glad to add links for new information (email: Webmaster at sggee.org). If no online records exist, there is information about LDS microfilms or archives to contact. This page is extremely helpful for locating parishes. Essentially, look for your village on a map and figure out which of these parishes is closest.

We are also greatful that Jerry worked hard to provide parish histories. See this page: https://sggee.org/research/parishes/parish_histories/church_history.html
Select both alphabetical and chronological links to see when parishes began. Keep in mind that a village may be in the "middle" of several parishes, and depending on the time frame, births, marriages and deaths may have been reported in various places, so some detective work and hunting may be necessary. There are also links to photos.

If the records you need are earlier than the Lutheran parish in a particular region, you may need to look for nearby Catholic parishes. That involves a different strategy.

Gail and others

Go to https://familysearch.org/ website,

>From the Search
tab at the top, drop down to Catalog,
next page, choose Search by
Author,
Type in the name of author as kosciol ewangelicki ,

Next page
should give you 85 parishes in the area which was once called Congress Poland.
Some of these towns also have Catholic parishes.

For some reason this list
does not include Lask parish, but it can be brought up by searching by Place.
There may be other parishes which are not on this list which I do not know
of.

You can also search for kosciol ewangelicko-reformowany
which will show
9 matches.

I would suggest printing out these lists and keeping them handy,
or bookmark the webpages.

Rose
