Jerry will be greatly missed. He was so knowledgeable, but above all so
helpful and generous.
Condolences to his family.

Jerry helped me immensely with the maps for my new book, even going out of
his way to insert several villages of mine. In all my requests, he never
once hesitated to help. I liked him a lot.

Very sad. Sincere condolences to his family.
So professional and yet so approachable
and friendly.
Will there be a full obit posted somewhere?

Members and friends of SGGEE,
SGGEE received the news that Jerry Frank, one of our founding members,
passed away peacefully yesterday after a long struggle with cancer. We
will miss him as a friend and colleague who shared a wealth of
information with us about Volhynia and Russian Poland, developing a
special expertise on locating small villages whose names were creatively
spelled in several languages. Many of you may want to read the brief
obituary published this morning by the Calgary Herald through
Legacy.com:
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/calgaryherald/obituary.aspx?n=gerald-frank&
pid=172673672
The Legacy.com site also has a link for leaving condolence messages for
the family in an online guestbook.
SGGEE will arrange for a memorial tribute to honor Jerry at his funeral
service on October 9.
Our sympathies and prayers are with his family.
Sigrid Pohl Perry, President
SGGEE Board of Directors

That is terrible news! Having lost my mother and other relatives to cancer,
I know just how terrible this disease can be. I'm very saddened to hear of
Jerry's passing, but relieved that his struggle is eased.
Deepest sympathies to the family.

I was very saddened to hear about Jerry's passing. Jerry and I never met
personally, but since 1997 I have benefited from his help in genealogical
matters and read his postings on the SGGEE mailing list with great interest.
I also enjoyed reading about his trips to Europe and all the photos he
shared with us on Facebook. I respected him deeply for his openness about
his battle with cancer, and for his deep trust in God. I am sure we will all
miss him. May he rest in peace.
