To Listers with ancestors in Pomerania, Prussia and Silesia
This is a website listing 9000 Village Names in Pomerania, Prussia, Silesia
http://www.goerke.us/genealogy/9000-Village-Names-in-Prussia.pdf
The author is Helmut Goerke, who lives in Spain, and the documeht is in a
PDF format and about 163 pages long. It is in German, at least the
introduction is in German. But there are maps of the various regions and
files of the locales with photographs. Please note that the photos CANNOT
be used for commercial purposes .
He notes in the intro that census of residents is based on 1938
figures. Some of the villages were destroyed in the war.
The list of village/town/city names is extensive and might be worth
checking if you have a location with a spelling that just seems unlocatable.
There is also a link to maps of the various regions of Poland, ca. 1940,
listing German/Polish names with a 1:25,000
http://igrek.amzp.pl/mapindex.php?cat=TK25
It seems a useful resource.
