It has been my experience with the EWZ, as limited as it is, that deceased spouses were not mentioned.  The date and place of marriage was listed on the Stammblatt, but usually not the spouse if deceased.  It is possible to find children from that marriage than the deceased Mother or Father is probably listed.  Cross reference with Grandmother or Grandfather for accuracy if listed.  For that matter, the first marriage may not be listed at all if the living spouse re-married.  Older children of the first marriage may or may not be listed under the second marriage, depending on their age.  Adult children have their own card.  Comparing the age of child to the date of marriage can be a give-a-way.  A few months would be difficult to tell, ten years would indicate a previous marriage.  Children that were listed at time of record and then died after the record date were simply "lined out".

Dear David,
EWZ normally only provides the current or most recent marriage on its records. Sometimes they might indicate previous/deceased spouses but I really don't know if they did it that much when they were going through Russia. So if you don't see it don't be alarmed.

Re:  EWZ record for Alwine Lauersdorf (Ruck) born 1894, married 1928.

Is it possible that Alwine's first marriage to a Russian soldier around
1912 was not given when her EWZ form was completed?

My grandmother who came to Canada left behind 3 younger sisters   1. Alwine
(I have a postcard)   2.?? EWZ has Helene - same as my moms middle name
3. ?? EWZ has Clementine unmarried (grandmother said she was a bit "odd" &
still single).  Their father's name was August, my grandmother is
Ausgustina.  They all lived in Antonettental & there are no other families
with just girls in the records.  If she could have left the marriage out,
then I am thinking they are my family.

Are there any other records I could look at?
