[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Rittergüter ( Rittergueter ) in Pommern

The name "Rittergut" dates back to the Holy Roman Empire and the owner of this rather large landholding had certain privileges, such as no land taxes, etc. But in case of war, the Rittergutsbesitzer ( owner ) had to supply knights and horses to fight in the war, if called upon. 

This all changed in about 1400 and again in the 1700 and again in the mid-1800. The name of the 
" Rittergut " was not necessarily the same as the name of the owner of the Rittergut. 

At the very beginning only " nobility " could own a "Rittergut". This changed later, so that anybody could buy and own a " Gut" or a " Rittergut ". as long as the buyer had the money.
( same as today = money counts  )  

The LDS library has 3 microfilm on the subject of  " Adel und Standeserhöhungen, Ritterschaftmatrikel, Rittergüter, etc. 1819 - 1910.  Film # 475181 / 475182 / 475183 . Film # 475183 is for the " Rittergüter " 

I have a page where some of the " Rittergüter " from Pommern / Pomerania are listed. 

One name of one of the " Rittergut's " is Starviskew and the name of the owner  Kristopf Friedrich is shown. (I cant make out the name exactly ) 

The " Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preussischer  Kulturbesitz" in Berlin has all sorts of documents on the Rittergüter from  Pommern / Pomerania and West Prussia as well as from East Prussia.
