Hello list,
I am searching for BONDERMAN,BONDERMANN, BONDENMAN in Volhynia. I have found none.
My gr grandmother's mother's maiden name was BONDERMANN who then married a WEICHMANN.
WEICHMANNS arrived in Heimthal around 1840, but there were some already in Luts'k area.
I am not certain where they came from.
My gr grandmother Louise sometimes stated that she was born Germany and sometimes stated that she was born in Poland (she was Lutheran).
Louise WEICHMANN was my gr grandmother and she married HOESER, HOSER (UMLAUT O) in Heimthal in 1872.
There were many Weichmann, Wichmann, Wickman families in Heimthal, Lutsk, Novorad-Volynsk areas and some were sponsored to America by my Hoeser ancestors. And I only know of one Hoeser family in Volhynia - Heimthal, Novohrad-Volynsk area. Those 3 sons (one being my ggrandfather Hoeser) and their mother came from Bromberg.
But I absolutely can not find any Bondermanns in Volhynia. A friend researched it in his Jewish records and say there are no Bondermanns there. I checked later WWII records (where I found lots of Weichmanns) but not even one surname of Bondermann.
If any of you heard of / know of / find a BONDERMANN, BONDERMAN, BONDENMAN family - even in Prussia or Poland area, I'd be interested in looking at their history.
Also, any WEICHMANN, WICHMANN, WICKMAN families in Luts'k area may be my ancestors. Some came to ND, SD, and SK, Canada in 1930s and 1940s.
Any help would surely be appreciated. I have simultaneously searched all four grandparents for about 15 years, and have found much. But I am just now going to the actual German records. Much more difficult, since I speak no German.
Thank you, list, for any leads or ideas that you can give me. I appreciate this group.
