Hi Helen,
All my family records list my ancestors' name as Bleschke. If I find Blaschke in Schwiebus as cloth manufacturers, I would be open to this spelling. The name changed to Bleschke from Pleschke around the 1740s. A distant cousin used old family record to research the name to the 1700s.

A member of my mother's church in Scarborough (suburb of Toronto) is BLASCHKE.
An English pronunciation might be close enough. Perhaps a search for this spelling might help.

Vera,
This may just lead you on a wild goose chase, but there is the word "Blech" in German, meaning sheet metal and there are some derivative German occupations such as "Blechler" for metal worker. Could the name for which you are looking be some variation of "Blech"? I submitted "Familienname Blech" (family name Blech) into www.google.de and had numerous hits, some of genealogical nature.

Vera,
I am not seeing this family in our Master Pedigree Database, but then we
do not have many records from the Bialystok area.
I am not saying that you are wrong in the spelling of the Bleschke
surname, but you will want to keep an eye out for any record that SOUNDS
like that name. The difficulty with "sounds like" is that each person
who speaks a different language will say and spell it differently.
I would say that you might also find this family under Bleske,
Blueschke,
Bluske.
