Maybe because I work closely with the Lublin data I find Schiewe is a
rather common surname. Don't consider it a rare or uncommon name. It's
not like Schultz, Schmidt, Krueger, Mueller and others like that.

A search of the Master Pedigree Database for the name Schiewe results in 437
hits. This is out of some half million names. Thus, the name Schiewe is
not hugely common but it is not rare either.

Is Schiewe a rare name or a fairly common one? I recently met someone with
that family name and I am just wondering. Should I mention to him that I
saw the name or is it like Smith or Jones in American?
