Thanks for these replies.
I'm going to save them and put them into my notes.
It does get confusing and I don't want to make a big
deal out of it - but I appreciate the knowledge that this
listserve shares. Since my grandfather was born in 
Volhynia in the 1870s, I have renewed confidence in
calling him a German Russian.

And Linda, thanks for ordering - I hope you enjoy it.
