I noted your reference to the HAMMERMEISTERS. My paternal great-grandmother
was Maria Hammermeister, b. about 1830 in Borki or Deutsch Troszyn, Prussia
(unproven, but see Ilow Lutheran Confirmations for possibilities). She
married Robert Schiller somewhere.
Their daughter, my grandmother Anna Schiller, was born 21 Jun 1864 in
Murawi, near Zhitomir. She married Friedrich Rimpel in 1890 somewhere,
probably Volhynia.
Friedrich, Anna, and their children immigrated to America in 1896,
eventually moving to Port Orchard WA in 1902.
Colchester (mentioned in email below) is less than 10 miles from Port
Orchard WA, and Puyallup WA (also mentioned) is less than 40 miles from
Port Orchard WA.
Wonder if your Hammermeisters were related to my Hammermeisters, and if they
were aware of each other's presence so close together.
Do you have any information on Maria Hammermeister and her family?

Zhitomir to
Kathy,
When I first read your email I thought you were referring to Novgorad,
Russia, near St. Petersburg. But there is also a Novogrod near Lipno/Rypin
and the Rienas and Hammermeister names are common in that area. If you are
referring to the area near Rypin then I'd like to get more information on
the Poland dates and names that you have. I may be able to help you with
this.
Earl

Hi. ?I'm trying to trace the children of Samuel RENAS who was b. Aug 10,
1836 in Poland (according to the census records) and married in Zhitomir Sep
26, 1880, possibly to Marie WINTER. ?I believe he had a brother Ludwig who
probably stayed in the old country (his daughter, Amelia RIENAS- 1863-1940
m. Johann HAMMERMEISTER in Zhitomir Nov 25, 1879; they were my
great-grandparents.) ?Samuel RENAS(64), wife Marie(51), sons Gustav(18) and
Teodor(16), daughter Emilie (13; went on to marry Louis WEISS and move to
Puyallup, I think) and Adoline(10) and Arnoldt(6) lived a couple households
away from my grandparents in Colchester at the time of the 1901 census. ?I
believe he had a son Wilhelm emigrate after him and also settle in Canada.
I have a lead that they possibly came from Novgorad, which matches up with
were *my* HAMMERMEISTERs also came from. ?I am hoping for some more clues
about this branch of the family. ?I will gladly share what little I know, or
think I know.
Thanks, Kathy Jeffrey
