Thanks for the correction about the invitations to Russia.
As my research goes back further it is going to be more confusing to remember which country I am looking in.  Is this the correct countries for the time periods in the area around Marijampole?

         <1795 Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth 
1795 - 1807 New East Prussia (after 3rd partition) 
1807 - 1815 Duchy of Warsaw (set up by Napoleon) 
1816 - 1918 Congress Poland (really Russia) 
1918 - 1940 Lithuania
