[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Disaster to Niedrunger villages

About a week ago the Vistula flood reached the area downstream Warszawa.
On Sunday morning 23.05.2010 the dike broke at Świniary.

Consequently 20 villages along the left bank of the Vistula (belonging 
to gminas Płock, Słubice and Gąbin) were flooded.
In some areas the water rose as high as 3 meters. About half of the 
inhabitants had to be evacuated.
The dike at Dobrzyków also started to leak. To protect Dobrzyków the 
dike upstream was blown up.

Estimated cost for repair of the dike, the main streets of the area and 
the destroyed school in Świniary will be 100 million Zł.
This number does not enclose any cost for flooded houses, lost crop, 
destroyed village roads and other local infrastructure.
