A Michael Kretschmann, son of Daniel Kretschmann, appears on the list of 
families deported from Solodyri in 1915 by the Russian army.  This must be 
your grandfather.  This list appeared in the Volhynia Gubernia News, 
published in Zhitomir, June 2, 1916.  Since the list was partly intended to 
find buyers for the confiscated property, the size of the farms was 
indicated.  Michael Kretschmann appears to have been one of the largest 
landowners in the village, having 62 dessiatines, or 167 acres.

The list of deported families was published (in 1997?) by the American 
Historical Association of Germans from Russia (ahsgr.org), translated by 
Brent Mai.  On this list were a few other Kretschmanns (according to Don 
Miller's inventory of names on the list) from other villages--Albert, 
(another) Michael, Ludwig Ferdinand and Paul Ferdinand.  Yet another 
Kretschmann, Andrej Alexandrov from Apolonija, appears on a list, "Lutzk 
Land Appropriations," on the SGGEE website (for members only).

Does anyone know if the Gubernia News list has been posted online anywhere?
