[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Backus, Backhaus, Bakus

Dear Listers,
 
Is there anyone on this list researching the BACKUS, BACKHAUS, BAKUS (have  
seen it spelled all these ways) family that lived in/near Friedrichsdorf  
(Solomka), Kreis Rowno, Volhynia, Russia, and Berestowiec, Kries Rowno,  
Volhynia, Russia? They immigrated to Michigan in the  U.S. 1894-1895. 
 
Some of the other names associated with this family in Russia are HAMMER,  
GAST, OTTO, GROSS, ISCHLER, and ROTHENBURGER.
