Hi alessandro,
    I believe that records from Shitomir do not always refer to a city 
but rather to a large area.  At least that was true of my family.
    Have you tried searching http://www.odessa3.org/search.html
In the first box type the surname, in the second select St. Petersburg 
archives.  Look at Odessa.

Also try http://www.odessa3.org/collections/stpete/volhynia/
