    Thank you to all who replied to the Gottland/Goettland question. 
Information has been very helpful and useful.

    It would appear that:
Goetland=Goettland=Göttland=Goethland=Marjanowka=Marianovka=Mar'janivka,etc

    Nothing like translations to confuse a person!!!

   Thanks Jerry for the info about the parish being Ludwigstal.  I guess
Ludwigstal=Romanowka.  I was also able to find church records for
Ludwigstal at the Mormon's website familyhistory.org and found microfilm
numbers that could very well be useful to me.  The records go from 1864
to 1885 and are in German.  They are for the Evangelical-Lutheran church.

    One question to that regard.  I believed that my Zietz ancestors
were Catholic.  Would the records still be at Ludwigstal or was there a
nearby Catholic church?
