Hello David,
the spelling KORDELL doesn't look German but rather Italian (from 
CORDELLI, a quite common Italian name, mentioned 1706 in Pistoia).
Anyway, they are existing in Germany:
more than 12 KORDELL events in the Gelsenkirchen district,
more than 12 CORDELL events in the northward bordering Coesfeld 
district, both North Rhine-Westphalia,
7-9 CORDEL events in the Gelsenkirchen district,
11 to 15 KORDEL events in the Coesfeld but more than 20 each in the 
Hochsauerland, Daun and Trier-Saarburg districts.
