yes, in 1914 he was definitely too young but maybe your grandfather
thought of 1917 or even the time after 1918 when the new established
Polish army fought against the revolutionary Russia.
During WWI there was no Polish army but PILSUDSKI's Polish Legion under
Austrian command (General Heinrich KUMMER von FALKENFELD).
