Al,
  There are other records the National Archives - most of them military based. For example they have an extensive record set that deals with SS officers. 
   
  Another set is not dependent on the military but where genealogy had to be demonstrated was where German citizens filed an application for any number of things like a marriage certificate, permission to run a business, etc. Here again the Nazis used these occasions to try to clean up their Arien race. This set is called Rasse und Siedlungs Hauptamt or RuSHA. Please email me in private if you want to know the possibilities of searching this set.
