[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Malowana/SCHINDEL

Sorry Jack but now that I know your source, I can tell you that Malowana in Volhynia is not the same as the Wola Malowana you find with a GOOGLE search. Wola Malowana is located some short distance from Lodz in Poland, formerly Russian Poland. Malowana in Volhynia is a short distance SE of Luck in modern day Ukraine.
Travel at that time was typically one of two routes but there could be others. One would be northerly by rail to the Baltic port of Libau and then by boat to Hamburg. The other would be by land, perhaps wagon (or if travelling light, just horse) to Warsaw and then by rail to Hamburg. In later years I think rail to Warsaw was also available.
