The Czech dictionary www.slovnik.cz says:
kámen = rock (US), stone, coarse, aggregate, checker, calculus, concretion.

My Bielfeldt Russian dictionary says:
камень = stone, rock, jewel, gem.

There is no connection to caminus (Lat.) = furnace, forge, chimney (sic) 
which derives from Celtolatin cam[m]inus = way, lane, path, trail ('the 
way of the smoke', see French chemin:
"Chemin, n. m. XIIe siècle. Du latin populaire *camminus, d'origine 
celtique. I. Voie utilisée pour aller d'un lieu à un autre.").

There are lots of Kamnitz / Chemnitz / Kamenice (stony creek) in Saxony, 
Bohemia and Poland, i.e. the name-giving creek in the Saxonian city of 
Chemnitz.
