John,

The place you may be looking for is Zurawice, or Zurawieniec, both villages
are/were about 7 km west of town of Chodecz. This area was in Russian
Poland for a time. The SGGEE pedigree database has a few Hoherz living in
this village, but nothing yet on Gottfried. Of course there are plenty of
Hermann's and Obst in the database too from different areas in central
Poland (some of whom surely would have migrated to the Volhynia area.

Others more versed with villages in Volhynia area may be able to help with
the other village.

You will find Pauline Hermann's 1866 birth through this link
http://www.odessa3.org/collections/stpete/volhynia/
You can also search from www.sggee.org website, under the Research tab click
Database Links.
