[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Lindner from Posen

I have just joined this list and hope to find information on my great grandparents. So far, I have found their grave stones in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but have not been able to find them on passenger lists, census' or anywhere else.  My grandfather listed Posen, Germany as his birth place on his alien registration card in 1942.  I do not know if that is the city ('Stadt'), its county ("Kreis" ), the administrative district ('Regierungsbezirk') or the province ('Provinz'). The information I do have is included below.

1.  Michael2 Lindner  was born 23 Apr 1829 in Germany, and died 20 Mar 1917 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.  He married Wilhelmine Weil in Germany.  She was born 26 May 1833 in Germany, and died 12 Jul 1901 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.

         3                  ii.   Rudolph Lindner, born Mar 1873 in Posen, Germany.  He married Clara Gurtzlaff 03 Aug 1895 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI, USA; born Oct 1875 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.

         4                 iii.   Friedrich Lindner, born 18 Sep 1874 in Posen, Germany; died 13 Jan 1950 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.  He married Mary A. Peters 28 May 1898 in , Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA; born 15 Aug 1875 in Cashton, Monroe, Wisconsin, USA; died 29 May 1937 in Mauston, Juneau, Wisconsin, USA.
