Hi Ellen,
I am searching my ancestors at this region too and got some results.
There are 3 places named Radom (exact spelling) in Poland, but only one with
relation to Pajakow. So I think Rose and Jerry led to the right region !
I'll attach a map in gif-format to this mail on which you will find Pajakow
right between Zwolen (on the left) and Pulawy (in the middle).
In other (online) maps you can search this graeater cities and then zoom in!
As Pajakow is positioned west of the Vistula River (Weichsel) I think you
will find your ancestors in the Radom church-books or the Radom
states-archive.
Jerry's advice could also be right: You schould also search at the other
places around Radom !
Vistula river was some kind of a natural border. When crossing, often people
at that time were on the way to Russia/Volhynia.
Do you have any relations to Volhynia ?
My own experiences with searching at this region:
Several times I wrote to the states-archive Radom (I know that they have
many church-registers from around Radom - called "alleghata"). All I got was
some general information and they adviced me to contact the
(evang.-augsburg.) church at Radom.
PARAFIA EWANGELICKO-AUGSBURSKA W RADOMIU,
UL. REJA 9,
26-600 RADOM
The parson was very helpful and within 3 weeks I got the birth-certificate
which
I was looking for!
Church registers (akta metrykalne) of Radom exist from 1830 up to now
Please take some advice:
- whenever possible: write in Polish and with exact names and dates
- confirm that you will pay for their searching / copies etc.
Some more tips:
Maybe, you will get an answer in Polish. (Let) Translate it, there could be
some more information for you.
Before getting your search-results you could be requested to pay by
international remittance. You may contact me, when there are problems with
that kind of money transfer!
Adress of states archive:
Archiwum Panstwowe W Radomiu
ul. Rynek 1
PL 26-610 Radom
You'll find a data base about church-records of Radom here:
http://baza.archiwa.gov.pl/sezam/pradziad.eng.php?miejscowosc=radom&gmina=&wojewodztwo_id=&wyznanie_id=&rodzajaktu_id=&search=search
My best wishes
Hannes Werner
