Maybe they were considered "lowlanders" because they lived on the flatlands along the Visla river.

My rusty German thought that. What about the origins aspect. Does this
mean they came from the German low country? That is North West Germany.

Niedrung means a low lying area, so if it is applied to the settlers as
Niedrunger(s) it would likely means "lowlander(s)"

The Breyer Origins map has this name for German settlers on the Visla
R.
near Warsaw. Can someone tell me what it means?
