The "A" is pronounced much shorter than in "Ahst".

>From my personal experience of reading many Polish church records from the
1800's, the German name Georg was translated into the Polish Wojciech. So,
if your "Wojciech" was a German, his German name was probably Georg, and not
Adalbert or Albrecht or Albert.
