Thanks for mentioning the Edlund index, Klaus.  It is especially useful for someone who has connections to other parts of Russia also covered under the St. Petersburg Consistory.  This consistory extended from the Archangelsk region in the north all the way down to the Black Sea.

For detail about the numerous reels of microfilms (including a list of the Russian provinces covered), see the FAQ at http://www.grhs.org/beresan/FAQ.html but be aware that this page focuses on the interests of Black Sea region Germans.

For those of you searching only in the Volhynia area, the SGGEE website already provides the same index information (or more detailed) as the Edlund book.  I believe that this book is available through the LDS on microfiche.

With reference to Kirchenbuchduplikat in the LDS description, these are indeed films of a duplicate set of church books that were sent to the Bishop's office in St. Petersburg.  Only very few of the original books from Volhynia still exist, as mentioned in correspondence about availability of new microfilms over the past couple of months.
